Abstract: Diabetes is a common disease across the world, which made exploration and utilization of active functional ingredients in nature plant in curing disease like diabetes one of the most important research aspects currently. Moringa oleifera, as one kind of exotic plants, is rich in nutrients and functional ingredients. Current research demonstrated that Moringa oleifera leaf can influence and improve diabetes mellitus and its complications. Thus, it has a very promising prospect in combining Moringa oleifera leaf and domestic plants with similar functions to develop functional food or herbal tea. This article, based on the elaboration the effects of Moringa oleifera leaf and its extract on blood glucose, discussed the research status of Moringa oleifera leaf and its extract on regulatory mechanism of blood glucose, base research of functional material, spending characteristics and toxicological safety evaluation. Most importantly, it further analyzed its development prospect in developing functional food or herbal tea, and pointed out the problems and directions offurther research in this field in the future.

Diabetes mellitus is a disease of abnormal glucose metabolism, long-term high blood sugar can easily cause kidney and other organs to fail, so it is especially important to control blood sugar. With the progress and development of science, medication has become more and more effective, but it is not yet curable, and long-term use of medication can easily cause vomiting, diarrhea and other adverse reactions. Traditional Chinese medicine is the treasure of Chinese civilization, and the extraction of active ingredients from medicinal plants for the treatment of diabetes is one of the key research directions at present. Domestic green willow, gardenia, mulberry leaves, etc. have been confirmed to have hypoglycemic effect [1_3] o Moringa (Moringa oleifera, M0) is a kind of plant resources native to India, widely planted in the tropical region, research shows that it has hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effect called 2012, China will Moringa oleifera leaf (M0L) into the new food raw material management, marking the M0L In 2012, China will Moringa oleifera leaf (M0L) into the new food raw material management, marking the M0L in China's food and functional food application access. Herbal tea refers to products developed from plant buds and leaves, flowers and flower buds, fruits and roots that can be used for food as announced by the state administrative department for people's consumption. With the vigorous development of the health industry, “health” consumption has become a mainstream consumer trend, with M0L and domestic dual-use or new food raw materials used in conjunction with the development of specific efficacy of the health food or tea tea drink has a broad prospect. M0L is rich in proteins, polysaccharides and other nutrients, as well as polyphenols, flavonoids and other functional active ingredients, the article mainly focuses on the impact of M0L on blood glucose, respectively, from the research on the mechanism of hypoglycemic effect of M0L and its different solvent extracts, the basic research on the hypoglycemic function of the active substances of M0L, M0L consumption characteristics and toxicological safety research, the development of the hypoglycemic function of the food or substitute tea and tea beverage M0L pairing on the application of research, as follows The application of M0L in the development of hypoglycemic food or substitute tea and beverage is summarized as follows.

1 Progress of research on hypoglycemic effect of MOL and its extracts

1.1 MOL

M0L affects and improves the balance of glycolipid metabolism. Tang Daxuan et al. found that 3.0 g/kg and 6.0 g/kg M0L could significantly reduce the blood glucose value of rats with high-fat diabetes model, lower the content of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and increase the content of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC).PARWANI et al. found that M0L could inhibit ” -Glucose A enzyme and lipase activity, and that the adverse effects on enzyme activity remained small even after food processing at high temperatures. The results of the population test also showed that oral administration of M0L can reduce the blood glucose value of diabetic patients and obese patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus!8-L], indicating that it has a lipid-regulating and hypoglycemic effect.

M0L affects and enhances antioxidant levels, reduces insulin resistance, and promotes insulin secretion” SHAAT et al. (iv) found that the addition of 5%-10% M0L to high-fat diets significantly reduced blood glucose, insulin resistance index (H0MA-IR), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, and increased total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and blood glucose levels of rabbits with diabetes induced by a combination of streptozotocin (STZ, 35 mg/ kg BW) and a high-fat diet. content, and increased the expression of total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and catalase (CAT) and their mRNAs.ANTHAN0NT et al!!11] found that oral administration of 4 g of M0L could promote the synthesis and secretion of insulin in healthy individuals, significantly increase the insulin AUC value and the ratio of insulin area under the curve (AUC)/glucose AUC, and increase the rate of insulin secretion, suggesting that M0L is a potential drug for the treatment of diabetes.
